Public restrooms are scarce in Big Sur.  California State Parks provides access to restrooms without charging park entrance fees.  Most businesses provide restrooms for guests.  If you use a business’ restroom, please purchase something from the business as compensation for using their facilities.  Also, bring plastic bags, disposable gloves and toilet paper should you have to use the roadside - please don’t leave toilet paper or anything else for someone else to discover.
